Best Highway Scooter?

Question by Mac Man: Best Highway Scooter?
I’m thinking about getting my motorcycle license and getting a 250-500cc scooter that I can use for some long-distance trips (including my 50 mile commute). I’m thinking about the Kymco Xciting 500 as I currently own a Kymco Agility 50cc and have been very pleased with the overall quality of their scooters. Any other suggestions? IDEALLY, I’d like to try and keep costs no higher than $ 5k (as I’ll get about $ 1k on my 50cc scooter).

The Piaggio BV500 is only $ 100 MSRP. I prefer Italian. Not to mention 60 pounds less.

Would the KYMCO People 50 be good for country roads?

Question by SeaGrape305: Would the KYMCO People 50 be good for country roads?
Would the KYMCO People 50 be good for country roads? Might be underpowered for freeways, but since I mainly drive slow, I do not see myself going on a freeway on a scooter. At least not one with a 50 cc engine.

Oh, and I live in SoFla, USA, BTW.

I’ll soon be getting rid of my old car, so I am seriously mulling purchase of a scooter. Much obliged in advance.

I’m not sure how the country roads are in FL, but in MS, those roads aren’t exactly speed trapped so people fly down them like there’s no tomorrow.

More on point with your question though, any 50cc scooter will have a top speed of 30 to 45 mph. That’s top, mind you. You don’t want to be pushing the limits of your scooter 90% of the time otherwise it won’t last long. I suggest you get a motorcycle license and get a dual sport bike. It has offroad tires and capabilities but is entirely street legal. The KLX 250 from Kawasaki is a decent choice.

On the other hand, there are plenty of scooters out there of all shapes and sizes that are more capable than a 50cc so if that’s what you really want, stick with a Japanese or European brand as they’ll have much higher quality than a Chinese brand.
