Vespa Motor Scooter
Vespa scooters are small-displacement motor scooters with distinctive styling. The Vespa lineup includes the LX 50, LX 150, S50, S150, GTS 250 and GTV 250 models.
Vespa scooters is owned by the Piaggio group, which was founded in Genoa, Italy in 1884. After the second World War Enrico Piaggio delivered a low-cost production motor scooter for the masses. The unique scooter design is reputed to have led Piaggio to say, “It looks like a wasp!” Thus Vespa, Italian for wasp, stuck to the motor scooter design and has endeared as one of the most successful brand names in motorcycles.
From their inception, Vespa scooters have been known for their painted, pressed steel unibody which combines a complete cowling for the engine (enclosing the engine mechanism and concealing dirt or grease), a flat floorboard (providing foot protection), and a prominent front fairing (providing wind protection) into a structural unit.
The Vespa was the first globally successful scooter.
